Turkey Work Permit for Russian Citizens: How to Apply

Work Permit Application in Turkey for Russian Citizens
The safest and legal way for Russian citizens wishing to work in Turkey is to apply for a work permit. A work permit is an official document that provides both the legal right to work and the right to reside in Turkey. For the process to go smoothly, the steps must be followed completely and accurately.
Application Methods and Process
There are two main ways to apply for a work permit in Turkey: an overseas application and a domestic application. The application method depends on the applicant's location and residence status. In both methods, the process is carried out by the employer filing an application electronically with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Applying Abroad:
A Russian citizen in Russia first applies for a work visa together with a job application to Turkey's foreign missions (consulate/embassy) in Russia. The foreigner is given a reference number at the time of application.
Using this reference number, the employer in Turkey submits an online work permit application to the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security. This is the basis of the procedure for applying for a work permit from abroad.
Domestic Application:
For Russian citizens who have a valid residence permit in Turkey for at least six months, the work permit application can be submitted directly from Turkey. In this case, the application is made electronically by the employer.
Documents Required for Application
Although the documents required for a work permit application may vary depending on the type of application, there are basic documents required from both the employee and the employer.
Documents Required from the Employee:
- Copy of valid passport
- Biometric photo
- Current personal information such as address and phone number in Turkey
- Diploma or temporary graduation certificate translated by a sworn translator and notarized
- Signed employment contract
Documents Required from the Employer:
- Current trade registry gazette of the company
- Current tax certificate
- Balance sheet and profit/loss statement for the last year
- Social Security Institution (SSI) workplace registration number
- Signed employment contract of the foreigner to be employed
Important Notes and Considerations
Work permit applications are finalized by the Ministry within 30 days on average. If the application is approved, a work permit card is issued in the name of the foreigner and this card also replaces the residence permit.
Incomplete or inaccurate documents may lead to rejection of the application. It is especially critical to prepare accurate and complete documents that require sworn translation and notarization.
This text is intended to provide general information on applying for a work permit in Turkey for Russian citizens. Each application may vary depending on the individual's specific situation and sector; additional documents may be requested. Due to the complexity of the legal processes and the variability of the legislation, it is important to seek professional support from a lawyer specialized in this field in order to avoid any loss of rights."
